The RNLI West Yorkshire Business Branch is a team of people who use their networks and skills to raise money for the RNLI in our region. The RNLI's vision is to end the preventable loss of life at sea and wherever people are in danger of drowning. The charity provides a sea rescue service around the whole of the UK and Republic of Ireland as well as beach lifeguards, flood rescue teams and safety education.
The volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved 142,700 lives since the charity was formed in 1824, and in 2018 RNLI lifesavers rescued and assisted 41,619 people.
The RNLI is entirely separate from the Coastguard and independent of the Government. 93% of its total income comes from donations, sponsorships and legacies. The RNLI has over 23,000 volunteer fundraisers working in guilds and branches across the UK of which one is the RNLI West Yorkshire Business Branch.
